'The people who make GTW tick...'

About GTW / The Team

FRANK GASKING

Webmaster

The man who started it all and got the wheels rolling for what GTW is today... an Archiving project, dedicated to finding the lost games of the Commodore 64.

Frank originally read the "Games That Never Were" feature by Ian Osbourne, and had Frank wondering where these titles may exist now. The curiosity led to asking other scener's, and in return receiving a few disks with some of the reported titles in the article. Fascinated by playing these so called "Lost" games, Frank persued this new interest by writing a new feature for Commodore Zone magazine, entitled "Games That Weren't". With the success of the feature, and the introduction of the Internet, Frank transferred the article to the internet and the project turned from a feature about lost games, into a project to FIND them. And so GTW was well and truly born.

Before GTW, Frank had his own game writing group called "Cyber Systems", developing a series of SEUCK and BASIC games with ML enhancements. Although early days featured some fairly weak efforts, towards the end there were to be some games which were half worthy of a mention, including Q-Billion and Synetic. These were alas to be Frank's last games under Cyber Systems, as life took over and cut backs were made. As GTW takes center stage, Cyber Systems goes into early retirement.. making a rare appearance on occasion as Frank gets itchy fingers to program or do graphics once more. There could even be more new C64 work of this kind yet to come in the near future too...

JAZZCAT

Research work

David 'Jazzcat' Simmonds is a very busy man, and GTW is one of his many involvements in the scene.

Helping with supplying games, information and also fixing titles for GTW. David has been a long running member of GTW almost since the beginning, supplying some crucial information and new unreleased titles for the site.

David has quietly pulled off some major GTW titles for the future, and although we can't say what titles GTW he has being worked on, David has orchestrated some real gems for the future.

David found the C64 in the eighties. He fell in love with C64 games, which lead to regular contact with System 3 and their related freelancers in the late eighties and into the early nineties.

David is currently responsible for several disk-magazines on the Commodore, main organizer of the scene group Onslaught and maintainer of http://mags.c64.org and http://www.onslaughters.org

ANDREW FISHER

Research work

Known by many as Merman on the C64 scene, and quietly remembered as 'The Mighty Brian' in Commodore Force.

Andrew first came across GTW in the pages of Commodore Zone, which he used to write for and was a big fan of the project. After meeting Frank at Brighton in 2003, Andrew got the GTW bug and searched through hourdes of magazines to collate lost game information. Impressed with the sheer dedication and impressive researching, Frank asked Andrew to become a member of the GTW team.. knowing what an asset Andrew would be in years to come.

Andrew has been using the C64 since 1985, first loading the oldie "Arcadia". Given the choice of an Amiga or C64 back in 1993, Andrew stuck by his C64. This support grew with Andrew helping Russ Michaels at EBES for a short period, whom introduced Andrew to Commodore Scene magazine, and continues to write for this day.

As with David, Andrew is a very busy man, and has been programming and composing since 1991 under the group name of Ozone, which was taken from an Irish Demo group. Andrew today is also part of People Of Liberty, writing for Scene World disk magazine as editor and lead programmer, ROLE as musician and programmer. He also has his own personal web page right here.

PETER WEIGHILL

Research work

Our second addition to the team is another GTW64 regular, Peter Weighill, who has contributed much information on many GTW64 titles over the years through scans and crucial credits.

Peter is not actively contributing reviews, but behind the scenes he will be helping to keep the wheels turning by providing some excellent research and findings for many a GTW64 title.

Peter is also a big contributor to other projects such as Gamebase 64.

ALEX ROSS

Reviews and research

One of two new recent team members, specifically to GTW64. Alex Ross is currently helping to review and research various GTW titles for the C64 platform (and possibly others in the future).

Alex is a great writer, and this will show in his reviews. He is also a slight fan of Monty The Mole.

Alex is currently helping Frank to finally get through the GTW64 backlog which has become overrun!
