A rare shot

A game based on the world famous actor... adverts were placed in magazines and it was mentioned around the gaming scene on many occasions in the late 80's.

Martin Holland was working on the graphics for the Amstrad CPC version, when US Gold pulled the plug on the project and all the data was shipped to Tiertex who took over the multi-platform project. Its unknown if the C64 version was completed, but the Z80 version recieved poor reviews. Dawn Drake worked on the ZX Spectrum version, and Martin was to ask Dawn if she knew anything more of the C64 version. Unfortunatly we never found out due to Martin's passing, so we will need to track down Dawn to find out more.

The game's final state is therefore unknown... does it exist?.... Rumours are of Martin Calvert doing the graphics and his older brother Steve coding it. We did find in some research that Canvas Software were behind the conversion, which suggests the credits above based on past Canvas software productions. The Games Machine (issue 1, page 9) states it is being written by 'Canvas'

What has been a very interesting finding, is possibly a C64 screenshot which was published in a Swedish magazine called Soft, which catered for both the Amiga and C64. There was no real Amstrad scene over there, and the Spectrum was virtually non-covered... so is this REALLY a c64 version?.... It's hard to tell, but it could well have been a Spectrum port.

But still, the research goes on with this obscure conversion...

More to come soon hopefully...

Frank.
